Deal Alert

The best deal on an Android HTC Flyer is $299 at BestBuy

Manufacturers and vendors are finally realizing that their prices are too high.  The TouchPad was well untouchable at the initial release price.  Drop that same price down and it will crush the web servers of anyone trying to sell them.  So now we see yet another tablet price reduction, in the fairly ignored HTC Flyer.   This tablet definitely differentiated itself.  It  shipped a 7″ screen and a digitizer pen with pressure sensitivity, and sadly an earlier version of Android 2.3.  Now that Honeycomb 3.2 support smaller form factors, it should be gaining an upgrade in the near future. Sadly, this will be just around the time of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Since the popularity of this device was pretty much non existent, there are no truly “Killer Apps” to take advantage of the $80 stylus.  If I wanted a portable digital sketchpad. (which I do), this still wouldn’t suffice.  Sadly Wacom is very quiet in creating a tablet PC.

Either way, the HTC Flyer will be yet another marked down tablet, and so it goes.
