Deal Alert

Looking for best price on the Motorola Xoom Android tablet?

Today over at you can buy a refurbished Motorola Xoom 32GB WiFi for only349.99. Sure the Amazon Kindle Fire was revealed yesterday for $199.99, but they are two very different tablets.  Which tablet should you buy?  Well the Amazon tablet is running a forked and reskinned version of Android with it’s own App store.  What does the Xoom tablet have vs the Kindle Fire?

  • Front and back facing cameras. Google hangouts or video chatting are possible with the Xoom
  • Google is releasing their Next Generation Android Dessert called Ice Cream Sandwich on Oct 11th.  This will be among the first Android tablets to receive that upgrade. (Google Experience Device)
  •  NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.  This matters for HD gaming and 1080P video handling.  There aren’t as many killer games for Android yet as there are for the iPad but there are plenty of great looking gamesbuilt for the Tegra chipset, which the Amazon tablet won’t be able to run.
  • 10.1 inches of Gorilla Glass.  I dropped mine in the first week of ownership from atleast three feet onto concrete. It bounced up and out about two feet. The screen is unscathed and the only damage is a slight dent in the casing.
  • GPS
  • Google Apps (gmail, maps, navigator, the soon to be released news reader Propellor)
  • microphone
  • netflix
  • There are some other differences as well.  Which is the right tablet to you.  If upgrading to the latest Android OS in the very near future doesn’t excite you then you most likely want to consider the soon to be released Kindle Fire. There will be a lot of Android price drops in the very near future as the new wave of quad +1 core powered next gen tablets get released.  They will be lighter, and therefore easier to use as an ereader than this tablet for certain.
If you want to see the specs on this tablet look over to our review of the device.
Woot deals are one day only, or until they sell out.   So if you know this is the tablet you want, this deal won’t be waiting for you over there tomorrow.
