Deal Alert

Well the sun comes up and it’s Sunday morning, and the best price deals on tablets are already landing in our laps.  Today the best deal is on the Samsung Galaxy S 8GB 5” Wi-Fi.  If you’ve been on this site before and read our Deal Alerts you have heard of  They are one day only sales which means you can buy this Android tablet for $169.99 until midnight or until their supplies run out. Now let me describe this tablet to you.

It is a 5″ screen and runs Froyo, which is not Android/Googles tablet specific OS. This lands it firmly in the arena of pocketable and should offer strong uses as an mp3 player, and portable book reader.   For those handy hack oriented individuals you can easily put CyanogenMod on this to bring it to the latest updates.  It also has a front facing camera for video conferencing which is a nice bonus for anyone who is looking for that feature, with a camera on the back for video and picture taking.   This device is small enough that it can be a decent substitute for that marginal quality Olympus point and click all in one digital camera your Aunt bought you for the holidays.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 5" 8Gb screen: What comes in the box?

This Android powered device has access to the range of Google Apps that really are a big part of the Android Tablet Experience  (GMail, Google Maps,  GPS which will need a WiFi connection for map downloads.)

Maybe you are sitting there at home in your Peruvian pants and tshirt and thinking how you might be able to put this device to good use.  For those of you who need a kickstart in  the ideas category here are some ways you can use this:

  • DuctTape it to your head and video tape your speed run trials on the ski slope.
  • Take said video and put them on your blog for instructional video on skiing techniques
  • Edit the video right in YouTube.
  • Set up a radio scanner so you can hear the Emergency Response teams (Police, Fire, Ambulances etc)
  • Use the info gathered from the Scanner to play out those super hero ideas(Cape and SuperHeroInsurance are Not included)
  • Video chat with the people who’s lives you’ve saved in your Super Hero moments.
Alright you may not be ready for the hero role so some other uses can be:
  • Netflix
  • MP3 player
  • Portable media device (SD Card slot makes this expandable for your home movies)
  • portable book reader
So for $169.99 you can change your life with Android, today only at woot for $169.99 (Sunday September 18, 2011)
