Motorola Xoom 4G upgrades begin after seven month wait.

A lot changes in seven months, especially in the tech world.  Steve Jobs resigned, HP…. well you get the picture.  But this is exactly how long early adopters have been stuck waiting for their devices to actually become capable of what they were sold to do.  This is 120 days past the “three months at most” claims.  This really could have been handled more smoothly for the customers, and illustrates the problem of releasing a product before it is ready (Honeycomb and the Motorola Xoom, the HP TouchPad  and the sad PlayBook.)  Secondly it serves as a warning to early adopters.  If you were an early adopter and bought a Xoom and were left standing quietly ignored, you can finally get what you paid for all those months ago.

You can sign up with Verizon for an email to alert you and explain how to prepare your device for the upgrade which will take six business days to complete.  For everybody: I hope you all have some books made of smashed wood pulp, smeared with ink to tide you over.
