Android fans who are devastated over the Samsung Google event on October 11th, fear not! Motorola and Verizon are holding an event on October 18th in NYC likely indicating the launch of Android Ice Cream Sandwich and the 2nd generation of Google Approved Tablet devices. Ice cream sandwich unifies the phone and tablet hardware into a single platform which can scale to various screen sizes, which in turn should accelerate the android marketplace and further invigorate development. Some of these 4.0 apps will include Google+, Music 4.01, and Google Talk Beta.

Ok, so sure it’s not technically a ‘Google’ conference, but Google does own Motorola Mobility. We’ll leave it up to you to draw your own ties.
