Original Motorola Xoom owners: a new project has surfaced for testing.

The first Honeycomb device in the first generation of approved Android tablets is about to undergo a new project according to the Xoom Forums.  This involves testers who are also using the Verzion version of the tablet, and it was announced via email project to their feedback network.

“Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are preparing a project for owners of the Motorola Xoom on Verizon, and would like to invite you to participate. Click this link to take a short enrollment survey for this project. Please note that you must be a member in good standing of the Motorola Owners’ Forums to take part.”

Previously these projects were little more than bug fixes.  Google has clearly stated that there will be no future version of Android Honeycomb.  Motorola Xooms which are on Verizon if the user updated to LTE are now at Android 3.2.2. It is possible this is simply a bug fix  from problems introduced in that release, but the hopes of the faithful, albeit small in numbers, legions of  Xoom owners are that these could be the first tests of Android 4.0 lovingly known as Ice Cream Sandwich.  This device was originally marketed in the US as a Google Experience Device, and as such it should be among the first tablets to run the new OS.  Lets hope that this is a sign of the impending release of the latest flavor of Android for these tablets.  We will keep you posted regarding any updates as they develop.
